Principal:  Maggie Quast

Maggie QuastPrior to becoming principal, I was the fifth grade teacher for ten years here at MMSA. I am a graduate of Drake University with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I earned my Masters Degree in K-12 Reading Instruction from the University of St. Thomas. I am also a licensed Reading Specialist. I believe as educators, it is our job to find how each student learns and set the bar high so that each student can work to their full potential using the gifts God has given them. I am very proud of our school and the deep roots we have in the Como Park neighborhood.

My teaching career began at Maternity of Mary – St. Andrew School in the fall of 1989 just months after graduating from the University of St. Thomas where I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education K-12
and my Coaching Certificate. This was the first year of the Maternity of Mary and St. Andrew parish school merger.  I've enjoyed every year I've been blessed to work with the children here.  Being in a school with a strong Catholic identity, a wonderful sense of community, and sincerely caring staff truly makes it a joy to walk in the doors every morning. I strive to keep my K-8 Physical Education curriculum fresh so my students get as much benefit from
their time in class as possible. Along with teaching Physical Education, I also enjoy coaching volleyball for the
                                    5-8 grade girls.

   Title I / Resource / Library/ Communications:  Marietta McCullough

I attended St. Andrew's Grade School, where the School Sisters of Notre Dame made a lasting impression on me. I earned my B.A. in English and B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of MN and received my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with K-12 Reading Licensure from Concordia University.  As a trained Orton-Gillingham Language Therapist, I focus my energies on reading intervention and instruction. It is a privilege to be able to teach in a school where I am able to share my faith and values with my students.

  Art: Angie Schaps

I grew up in Saint Paul & Minneapolis and have loved drawing & painting as far back as I can
remember. As a child, I would draw and paint on any blank surface, short of our home's walls. But years later, while studying at MCAD (Minneapolis College of Art & Design), I did get to paint on walls: I painted children's bedroom murals to earn extra money. I also worked as a studio manager for a commercial photographer for several years,
and I felt at home surrounded by awesome creativity. After marrying my husband, Tony, I had a baby and became
a stay-at-home mom to our wonderful daughter, Isabella (I loved every minute). She is in 7th grade this year at                                  MMSA.
I feel incredibly grateful and honored that God would give me this wonderful opportunity, and I am blessed to have the chance to share my talents given to me by Him with the children of MMSA.
